In 1970 the first Earth Day was celebrated around the country.
In 1990, the 20th Anniversary, Earth Day was observed in 141 countries by 200 million people. In that year, the San Diego Earth Day Coalition presented the first EarthFair in Balboa Park. It was attended by more than 50,000 people. The EarthFair was presented each year from 1990 to 2022 (except 2020 and 2021), and has been the largest free environmental fair and Earth Day celebration in the world, with an annual attendance of 60,000 to 70,000. April 2022 was the last EarthFair.
Having just (6/22) ended EarthFair for financial reasons, EarthWorks finds itself starting out in new directions. We have no "canned" sponsorship program to offer at this time. However, if you would like to see how we might work together to continue to make San Diego clean, healthy and prosperous, please contact us at info22@earthdayweb.org or call our office at 858-272-7370.
